Hamsa Hamsa Hamsa (2014)

Entering into motherhood brought a lot of love and the fear of losing what was most precious to me with it. I noticed this in a very concrete way while attending services on Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement). Thought to be the most sacred of prayers said on this holiday, the “Unetaneh Tokef” prayer relates to the temporary nature of each person’s stay on Earth. Following the birth of my first child, I found this prayer overwhelmed me with emotion. It inspired me to create the work “Hamsa Hamsa Hamsa”.

The music for the performance was created specifically for this dance, influenced by melodies and prayers of Yom Kippur
